Hi BTWR, Sorry to be late in getting back on this. I was sure someone else would chime in with an answer. Basically, the scale of import and the way effects behave is proportional to the scale of the scene now. (I think most of the rough edges for Poser content import have been improved now) Some content imports from other programs may still be a little goofy because there is no standard for program to program scaling. I know, I know, there should be. The large screen size is primarily for landscapes of substantial size. It allows you to work pretty much within the "box" of the assembly room but still have long distance haze and atmospheric effects. Previously, you had to do some big time adjustments or spread your scene waaaaaaaaaay out in the Carrara work space. Do you remember that ship I did some time back? The clouds were huge and way, way far away to get that effect. To place them I had to zoom out to something like 5000 percent to fit the whole scene in. So small in fact that I couldn't select the boat! Medium is good for building interiors, exteriors and intimate outdoor scenes. Small works great for still life images and detail/close-ups. Mark
Mark.
Appreciative of your reply. Can you remind me of which image of the ship you did?
What I percieve at the moment, is that this "big screen" was more of a rare, very specialised
need? I seem , as like Patrick 210?, to have done all my scenery without much difficulty before.
But now, it seems a lot of the handy stuff, the starting point work, in the wizard, is forcing us to a working size which is really "exotic" rather commonly useful?
Are there some "rules" which we can apply to bring back those monsterous screen sizes back to "normality"?

Hi BTWR, Yes, you can certainly create outstanding scenes with just one scale option. The new set up is simply putting more tools in the tool box as it were. The boat image is at the link above. It had to be a very large scene because of the sublte atmosperics I wanted on the clouds. However, the scene at this link, http://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php?image_id=1196007&member was done with the components only being about 3 assembly room boxes wide. MarkMark.
That was the image I had in my mind but I could not believe, still can't, that this needed that screen size for the cloud effects!
I see the6.01 Help is completed. Maybe some "Rules" for sizing may be included?
ps. I note a problem worrying me in the Vertex room seems to be fixed--and it's not listed in the bug fixes list.! WOW!

I probably am toooo old and slow, but I can not seem to find any benefits---(more like, ghastly time wasting complications)---to the new three Screen Size options in Carrara?
If there are, can someone help with a "Set of Rules" list which would make my life easier please--I feel the 6.01 update is not providing an answer at this point.
(I listed a set of dimension magnification ideas in another thread. These may be part of the rules to be enumerated.)
