Harder than it is to spell
It is a relatively easy for a 3D program. It does have some odd work flow things, but they all kinda do. I would try the demo as suggested. Someone stating they are not much into CG should definitely weigh Carrara's worth on their own.
No need to think outside the box....
Just make it

Already answered? Oh well. I was going to say, for a one-stop-shopping program (models, animates, and renders) Carrara is one of the easiest to learn. The "rooms" system causes some to complain, but it keeps the windows uncluttered. There is still a Kai-ness about the interface that throws off some people, but other people (like me!) find it restful to look at and intuitive to use. And you can try a demo free.
After several years of using Vue and Bryce, I've only recently started getting into Carrara. It's not that hard to use. A little harder than Bryce, but the end result is worth the extra effore to learn it.
But ass someone already suggestes, the best thin for you yo do is download the demo and see for yourself if it's what you want.
