Description
Dang thing ate my notes first go.
This is the memorial to the defenders of Baltimore for the actions during the War of 1812. The other monument in this area is to Major-General Samuel Smith who organized the defense.
The other Samuel Smith I am familiar with is a brewery in Tadcaster, Yorkshire. I think that Sam's beers with this Sam's steamed crabs would be a winning combination.
Left to right, roughly:
At the water's edge, the green building is the Pratt Street pavilion which, along with the Light Street pavilion, was the start of the Inner Harbor renaissance some years back. Looking a tad tired now, but we shall see.
The tall building is Baltimore's World Trade Center.
Right of the monument: Four smokestacks on the old powerplant which supplied electricity to the trolley system. Several plans to turn this into an entertainment center failed. Current effort seems to be much happier. What's that on the leftmost stack? A giant guitar... Someone else posted an image of it some months back. The triangular roof is part of the aquarium. I think the brick building (squarish) is a parking garage and maybe offices, while we see the 'weird' building from an earlier posting. Mrs. W. thinks it has to be a marina. Safe bet, but we MUST investigate!
No comments on the dark-glass towers. Not interesting! ;-p
Enjoy; thanks for viewing.
Not crabs. It was pit beef and 'melt in your mouth' ruebens! and Yuegling beer!

Dear TW, I too have problems with "notes." When I put put up the web site sampler last night, I inadvertantly had some stuff that it thought was HTML. Not only was it messed up, it wouldn't let me fix it! Finally got it straightened out. Be careful off the "chevrons" above the comma and period (I can't type them here) as they can cause big problems in the notes. Terrific shot and I love the tour. Beautiful photo and a great reminder of our history. Excellent work!! Love, Meredith - E-bot eradicator!!
