Description
Port Covington is where TAMAROA was photographed earlier (later in this gallery). It's behind a shopping center, but right on the harbor's edge. Lots of folks go fishing there, and it's a good spot to watch wildfowl. However,it does have its perils.
Two Canada Geese were cruising a small inlet. In the upper picture, we see that the rear goose is not watching where she is going. Her consort Nemo, in front, clearly spotted the rock jutting out of the water and steered clear. For whatever reason he did not sound his honker.
In the lower image we see that Titania has struck the rock and is almost completely sunk. Frantic, Nemo searches underwater to see what assistance he can render. Alas! and A-Quack! All attempts at rescue are too little and too late.
In the thumbnail, Nemo looks wistfully over the inlet where his Titania had her encounter with the Rock.
Sad, but true.... really.
Enjoy, (If you can, you are heartless! Heartless, do you hear!?) remember Titania and all who sailed in her, and thanks for looking.
OK, no more caffeine. Promise. Thanks to Mrs. Weesel for her technical assistance in naming Nemo.

Dear TW, I've always been amazed at how birds "get away" with things - until something like this happens. A while back we were at a construction side in thick fog just after daylight. It was out in the middle of an oil rice field. There was a large gray storage tank off to the right that I could barely see in the fog. One genius of a teal came zooming past us, saw the tank a split second later. He tried to pull up, stalled a wing, and when over the top and hit the ground after a full revolution. He stumbled around for a few seconds - then took off in another direction. Only time I've ever seen a bird stall and spin! Excellent work!! Love, Meredith
Did it really not survive? I am crushed... I would compliment on this but,,,,gulp.. i am just too grief stricken
