Description
Two different aspects of the neighborhood around the old Grain Elevator we've been exploring. Yes, I'd like to get in it, just to see what the heck it took all that height to do!
Anyhow. Upper picture is the street leading to the "No Dumping" zone by the elevators. Decent East Coast row/townhomes. Probably set someone back about $4000 or so at one time. If you followed yesterday's link . . . a ha! ha! ha! You know that some inflation has taken place.
I've never been in one of these in Baltimore, but we had relatives in Camden, New Jersey. I recall it was narrow and went on forever. All lighting in the middle was artificial. Not a bad place, but very different from the style home I was used to. In other sections of town, these go back (forever!) and up (forever!) (so it seems).
In contrast, some of the more decrepit buildings seem to have been razed to build more modern townhomes. The one with the purple balloons was having an open house viewing. The cyclone fencing with barbed wire is for an industrial parking lot across the street. NOT part of the development!
This new house was very spacious. Very light, and it went up forever. A balcony off one of the four bedrooms and a spiral stair from that up to a rooftop patio. Nice view, really. Nice breeze, really. Nice price, really! -- for someone else, that is. Anyhow, this seems to be the new look for areas that can't be saved.
We will keep an eye on the grain elevator complex to see how that progresses.
Time to move on to something a bit more touristy with a minor detour. (Always a detour, eh?)
Enjoy; thanks for viewing.

Very interesting...........
Interesting!!! Excellent shots!!!
You are worthy of a Job in the Retail Real Estate Industry :]
could you reduce the size just a tad Wees? it's hard to scroll everywhere to see the photo to SEE the place! thanks!
Nice reconstruction... such a rooftop patio wasn't bad, eh? Liked to have a look in there... bit curious sometimes wink Wonderful presentation, Weese!
I like the design. The rooftop patio and spiral stairs are really innovative. I like most of the facade design - however - those "m" shaped ornamental pieces and the trim surrounding it isn't fitting in at all.
well seen and captured! the change is everywhere and sometimes one don't notice! The stairs on the roof are cool! ;o)
Dear TW, I see the same sort of redevelopment going on in a lot of places. I was recently in Fort Worth and both sets of house soucl have been there. Seems odd to think of it but most cities have sections like that. The roof top patios ahve really become popular. I've got a friend that has been looking at some. Excellent work!! Love, Meredith
