Description
If one steps out the back of Mount Clare mansion and looks north, this is the view. What was a rolling plantation became a major warehouse and admininstrative office for Montgomery Ward catalog and department stores.
MW is gone. Their building is massive and not unattractive. It is also rock solid and has been developed into Montgomery Park business center. Lots of office space, health club, food court and access to a new hiking/biking trail.
Balamer has its problems, but it tries to overcome them creatively. I give the city BIG marks for retaining, where practicable, the older architecture. A lot of industrial buildings are now museuems, offices, residences, and shops while looking like a cleaner version of the old city.
It's not too likely that tourists will go out of their way to see something like this, but you can't miss it while driving south on I-95. If you are passing thru town, now you know what it is.
Enjoy; thanks for viewing.

lol.. i'd hate to be the windown cleaner on this job! ;)
Dear TW, well I'm still trying to catch up, so I'm back again tonight. It's nice to see building reused like this. It reminds me of the old Jax brewery on the banks of the Mississippi in New Orleans that is now a shopping mall. Hopefully this will turn out as well. Thank you so much for hsaring it with us!! Excellent work!! Love, Meredith
