Description
Great Stone Fences
Great stone fences surround the mansions
Of those who live in high fashion
With marble benches and gardens
Hidden from view
Matchbox hideouts and haystack houses
Dot the mountainside beneath the crest
Where the rest of the world
Is imprisoned below
Great stone walls muffle the calls for help
As beggars do dances outside of the fences
A better world is still dreamed of
Great stone faces peer from high places
Those who smile return in a while
With food for the poor
That they throw on the floor
Outside of the fences the beggars do dances
They sing songs to the crowd
No laughing allowed
A better world is still dreamed of
A better world is still dreamed of
