Description
*Life is a synestesia of too many elements to be caged in a box.To be liveable in a limited space of virtuality. To pretend a partial life can have all flavours, colours, intensity of a complete one that can only take place in real world is like trying to say that it's better to use one or two senses instead of five, and fake that can have the same richness, or even more, of the real thing.Let's be brave. Let's live fully. All the rest is a comforting, but someway pathetic lie.Or fear. And to fear life, as one said once, is to fear living and the one who's fearing to live is already three quartes dead.*

Taken on July 2003, in Rieti, near Rome. Model, Barbara.
Canon IXUS 400, no postwork. Contrasted and balanced with available light.

It was hard to pick up a new image for the photography gallery this time, even more than usual.I wanted to post something descriptive of my state of mind after all thoughts I had after the departure of my Aunt. To have lost her was a pushing in dwelling newly and fully more into reality of life. Pain, sometimes, is useful to appreciate everything living is made of,and more than we use to realize. So this picture tells that.. Life outside is bright indeed. No sufference, no temporary grieving, no pity nor fear can prevent us from being part of the process of living. Outside there's always a day more for hope and happiness. And so a message of hope, is what this picture was meant to show you.Even if you will notice the horizon is a bit swhirling, which is indicative of the feeling of expectation and the vertigo our days can gift, or oppress us with.
Virtual reality, yes, can be good. But the real life, is outside.
I will be again in Rome tomorrow... the pictures out from it will mainly be uploaded in September though... as from 12th of August, I am on holidday, luckely pc-less and .. going to a week of sea too (unexpectedly.. ;)).
But I wil try to come back with millions of nice pictures. Watch out also the forums for them though.. you know I mainly show pics there ;)As all beginners should do!
Enjoy holidays as well if you are gonna have them, if you hadn't, or they are ended, well, tune in with the best vibe anyway for the incoming Fall :) Take care:)

This is very beautiful and the lighting is just fantastic Meli! You are awesome!
A moving image.. I think you have portrayed the essence of loss, and yet the bright sunny day offers us hope of better days coming out of the shadows!
It succeeds in communicating what you aimed for here: inside all is in shadow but light still remains outside. The interior room is the interior of our heads, and all the shit that may happen and all that we might punish ourselves for, whether deserving or not. An image for opening one's eyes, understated but somehow powerful nevertheless. Thanks hon luv :-)
A very emotinal image..You caught the lighting really fantasticaly,BRILIANT!!
The explanation behind this picture is fantastic Meli. Thank you for taking the time to share it with us.
You certainly take that "fear" away, with your marriage of wisdom and images, cheers meli:):):)
Mia mamma qui di fianco a me, e sta continuando a ripetere "bellissima!... bellissima!". Piace moltissimo anche a me! E' veramente spledida!
I might be wrong, but it seems to me like you cought Barbara talking on the cell phone and took the shot thinking of all the things you've written above. That makes it true emotionally and it also makes a good idea for the shot but if you would have just waited till she's finished talking and made her pose for you the pic would get more of the atmosphere you were aiming for. It still is a pretty great shot, I'm just giving you my impression of what I think looking at it :)
For a beginner photographer this is a most excellent photo that portraits the mood of your description perfectly. I find your work here most inspirational. The lighting and contrast is amazing. Have fun in Rome, and the Sea. -Peace :-)
Yes, life goes on, and you have caught this, just as you described it, so beautifully. Pain and hope, the atmosphere of this photo is so moving and so refined.
I really like how the light is so distinct outside the room and door. It makes the whole moment and situation even stronger. She is getting married..and the light is just outside the door, or something like that :) Great picture indeed.
Your images are always pleasant to look and intense in feeling! My compliments!!! :)
My condolences for your loss. I enjoyed your photo and reading your inspiring thoughts. Have a wonderful vacation! Soon there will be nobody left around here... :)
Very nice shot , there is a mystery concerning the model, are we in the present or in the past ? Sorry to hear about your aunt...
Wonderful shot with the yin and the yang of the life. I like the light in the back, it's a sign that after the rain comes the sun like in the life (I don't know if we say that in english too ? ). Splendid work, Meli !
EXCELLENTE PHOTOGRAPHIE (UNIQUE) ET QUEL ENDROIT MERVEILLEUX... Hve a nice weekend Gallimel...:)
There are some very interesting elements at work in this photo along with a strong sense of emotion -
really emotional and touching
Great shot! It portrays your point very nicely. But, but, pc-less after the 12th!!!! Is there life without a pc? (or in my case a Mac) Hope you have a great time on your holiday and look forward to seeing all the shots you take in September.
That is some DEEP meaning for this picture. That's AWESOME! I also love how the door being open is brighter than the tinted glass. The light seems to overcome the darkness. The tint allows you to see what's out there, what a gorgeous mountain! Rock on Sweet stuff!
Wonderful photo. It really portrays what you are saying. Yes, loss and the pain of it is a needed element in our lives. There must be darkness and light or we could never really see anything at all.
I agree with you. To stay alive in front of a computer, connected with cyberspace means to be linked to a limited dimension that can suddenly disappear after a click. And you can only partially communicate with others. There is not a real interchange because there is no effective presence. But if you feel empty, if you are hiding your emptiness virtual world can supply material to your self-privation. Virtual world can be seen as an ideal space where you can invent yourself through superficial contact with others. Superficiality permits a kind of polyvalence, a kind of ambiguity where you can insinuate a vague personality that in fact suggests nothing. If you need or if you cannot find another kind of contact to fulfil your emptiness (its the easiest way) gradually youll be modelled by your experience and youll became chronically superficial. You fill up your emptiness with frivolities and your personality stays in a kind of embryonic state. All possibilities are latent and yet you never cease to be an embryo.
Wonderful picture...Hugs :D
I like this photo! The window is awesome!!! And it looks like she's on the phone...anywho, fantastic shot! And Thanks for sharing with me!!!
What we see through your eyes are the many expressions and visions of life. You then share your words which give deeper meaning. Meli, you are quite the artist and visionary. Beginner? I don't think so....
Beautiful artwork photographic ! Excellent contrast and great shot ! Congratulations Meli !
I like the silhouette and the landscape through the door, it's a beautiful mood.
this is a wonderful, compelling photo with the sillouette & the beautiful landscape beckoning outside- your friend has a lovely figure but i agree with nuitek on the loss of the phone being more of the desired effect you wanted as well as the door not being vertical throws it off a bit but i realize it's the angle of your POV... still a sweet shot :]
The contrasting elements of this piece portrays the emotion felt after a loss perfectly. The dark can be very comforting, but the light awaits us eventually.
Beautifully done, Meli!!!!!!!
