Description
This poor guy was a down and out I met after taking this Photograph He wanted me to give him some money.. I fought with my better judgement as it would have been spent on Alcohol.. I took him instead for something to eat and drink.. Feeling rather awkward as his drunken state as we entered a local eating place.. He turned out to be a Poet and I had one of the most enjoyable conversations in my life...There but for the grace of God..
It taught me a big lesson in that it is important never to judge a book by its cover..

Excellent shot Daniel...!!! show a reality that moves...!! the testimonial value of this picture is very big...!!
you did the right thing.. and this picture testifies real life behind it so touchingly. Very deep. Very sad as well, as real life is forcedly too.
You show more than your artistic eye with this... you give us a glimpse of something stronger. Kudos my friend, you have placed a smile upon my face and I thank you for that.
It's close to impossible to comment on a masterpiece, Danny... In Your gallery I always see only highly professionally done artwork. Being mere amateur I can't analyse Your work but the real piece of art shouldn't be analysed imho, neither words nor exclamations can express the inner deepest emotions that arise in our subconscious...
Life is just fine Then one day your here. . . wondering where it all went wrong~ One day your whining 'bout how the poor are getting too many handouts, or how they're an eyesore, or better yet, they should get "jobs"~ Hey, maybe like yours? Then the next thing you know. . . Your "them"! When your walking high and tall upon that fine and gilded wall its so hard to look down on that "less-then" view. . . to think how high up you really are and know that you could be them too~
Three sheets faced windward
Half Homeric was the bard,
And the rest blind drunk.

I'm not going to try to add anything to what's already been said because it's in the knowing that we come to terms. Absolutely stunning work Dan. I'd be proud to call this my own.
Excellent shot and a great story!
Great job!!! Glade to hear you had a great time with the subjecy and where taught a perfict leson we all should kep in mind..
Brilliant photographic scene! Done on a right place in the right moment and chance!!!
Even if he HAD spent it on alcohol, at least there would be a brief moment of what he considered happiness. Sonetimes a gift has to be given for the user to use, not for what we wont them to do with it. I met a guy in York who was living on the streets. He was so cold that his toes were turning black. My eldest daughter was so upset (she was four at the time) that he was living in such a state that we bought him some a few pairs of winter socks, but I wanted to take him to hospital. He refused...so all we could give was a gift of socks and food....
I see our paths have crossed once more but you will rmember me as 'Egmont'. I came upon this image by chance as it was a favorite in someone elses list. I am glad to have come across it and especially for all the comments. I thank you for posting the photograph and for writing the wonderful words. It has made my life just a bit richer.
