It is what may be the final countdown, as the Death Star approaches the Rebel Base on Yavin IV. Princess Leia and C-3PO watch in the command center as their fate hangs in the balance. Date Published: October 01, 2026 My second brand-new Star Saga artwork of 2026! This time we have a scene from the Original Trilogy featuring Leia and C-3PO in the third act of Episode IV: A New Hope. I can almost hear C-3PO saying “we’re doomed!” in this. I believe this depicts the moment right before the loudspeaker says, “The Death Star has cleared the planet”. Leia is steeling herself for what could be her last moments while also projecting a brave face to her fellow Rebels. She can stay focused and not lose her cool, unlike those Skywalker boys! The excellent Rebel Base props are from CG Trader and they took very little time to get them Poser Superfly ready for which I am grateful. The majority of the light in this scene comes from emissive shaders that I incorporated into the props. I converted the top of Leia’s dress to dynamic cloth so that it would drape correctly including for “no bras in space”. I sculpted the Carrie Fisher face you see here about a year or two ago but did a few more little tweaks on it as I worked to finish this scene. I believe it’s one of my best likenesses, if I do say so myself. It was a PITA to get C-3PO’s material shaders looking right, but I think I managed in the end. For the finished image, I added a slight bloom effect and a soft vignette effect in Photoshop after rendering in Poser 14 with Superfly.
