Description
There they go again, the dirtbag Terrans, tearing through the Koprulu Sector, killing every alien in sight. This time, their xenophobic ire is directed toward a Zerg base of no immediate threat to our wayward humans. Will their treachery never end?
In StarCraft I – Broodwars, the human Terran race often opposes the hive-minded, insectoid Zerg. One of the Terran strategies frequently employed is the so-called bio build. This requires the use of infantry units like marines, firebats (flame-throwers), and medics to attend to wounded units, assisted by airborne science vessels to reveal buried Zerg units like the dreaded lurkers, and to irradiate any and all inbound threats.
Another approach, the mech build, instead of relying solely on infantry, employs mechanized units – siege tanks, goliath walkers, and vulture hover bikes. While potentially effective, this strategy bears a number of risks. The siege tanks and goliaths are far less mobile than the infantry and cost much more to build, soaking up resources rapidly, requiring a much more robust economy of minerals and, in particular, vespene gas.
From all appearances, this Terran operation is emphasizing the mech option, with devastating effect. This Zerg base is doomed!
All models are original, created using Wings3d for the mech units and Sculptris for the organic elements. Bryce5 has once again provided the rendering environment, with some post work employing Paint Shop Pro 8. Siege tank blast plumes are volumetric clouds while the muzzle flashes and the main Hive blast are Bryce5 2d picture objects using pics from Google Images.
As always, thanks for lookin’!

Fantastic work!
Thanks!
Very dramatic and well done scene.
Thanks for the kind words. I'm not totally satisfied with the result, but it's always fun messin' around with 3d modeling and rendering in Bryce.
We come in peace - shoot to kill. Not satisfied with wiping life out on Earth, humanity turns it's attention to sterilising other worlds.
Still, it does make for a dramatic image. :-)
Thanks for taking the time to comment.
