Beautiful sunrises. You have a good eye for photos.

thank you, lordi...much appreciated. When you live 6 blocks from a body of water this big, and the sun rises there every day (at least the last time I looked), it's like nature set up the shot for you...all the right lights, the right shadows, the right angles...it makes it easy. (The only problem is that the sun moves: If you need time to set up the shot, it's already risen several inches. Honestly, i want to scream, "Stay STILL!!! This is a photoshoot!") (It doesn't care.) I've seen photographers take 15 minutes to set up tripods, meters,etc, and when they shot, the sun was all the way out, the colors were gone---too late! Lotsa swear words...(And then there's some wise-guy who says, "don't blame the sun, the earth is what moved!" Yeah, we KNOW that---but you gotta blame something, and the sun is the easiest target...you got 12 minutes, and that's it...a race against time...)

On the top photo, either the sun put the propusive engine, or he tried to go back in the water. His shape is strange, but I guess it depends the speed to take the photo. And it's pretty cool to have him playing with you.

The last photo, it was an agitated day according the waves. And a boat in the horizon?

lol---thank you caty77. Yes, the top sun is shaped really strangely. But that's just one of many distortions you get in an early sunrise. It has something to do with the way the low horizon bends light waves. (It's physics, and I don't understand it well.) Sometimes the sun looks like a big bubble popping up. It gets all kinds of strange shapes this early in the morning.

And the little thing on the horizon, in shot 3, is a lighthouse. Impossible to tell, but people live in that lighthouse for a week at a time. Must get lonely...

such jaw dropping captures my friend. like wow! amazing TOD shots. the top shot is so strong in a red/orange sunset/sunrise? and love the red water reflection. the second is amazing with the cloud formations, love the yellow, orange colors and the lower one with the water splashing as it ht the shore and the distant sun going down or coming up? with all the beauty in color. perfect capture Mark. thanks for sharing. 5++

thanks so much, steve, and you pointed out details I didn't even think about. (When it's my own art, I often don't see what's in it.) Those colors are so intense, sometimes a less-than pro camera distorts them like crazy. I get lucky about every 6th shot.

And these are all sunrises---you're looking East in these shots. So that's a rising sun. 10 minutes after it appears, the colors disappear. So you gotta get out there early, and then shoot like crazy. 10 minutes later, it's just a sunny day. Thanks again Steve, much appreciated as aways.

thanks again, Nena, much appreciated. I always tried to capture splashing water, but the water disappeared just as I set up my camera. (With nature, nothing waits for you. Nothing. "Posing" is out of the question...')

But the other thing is, when you DO get the shot, the water splashes all over you, your clothes and your camera. You wanna leave a note, "I got soaked here." i shot some waves that literally knocked me to the ground. It's a 'lake' but it can get reeeeallly angry...

These are all absolutely magnificent captures, Mark! But that third one.... OMG! The way the breaking wave and droplets capture that wonderful red glow is just epic! Wow. And that sky is pretty spectacular in the top 2 photos as well.

Those lakes are inland oceans more than lakes! If things here ever settle down somewhat, we've gotta get up there and see them (and you) in the flesh. ...On the to-do list!

Also you won the race against time, Mark. The sunlight is out of the box, you can see it in the cloud cover (we call this species sheep clouds in the Netherlands). But especially in the jumping water I find that light phenomenal. In any case, the colors are beautiful in all their shades, magnificent.
