Description
So far this one was a bit tedious but not too hard. The importer lost the UV mapping on some parts so I will have to map and re-texture those. Ugh.
However progress is good now, I have set up all the materials and the model is nearly ready for rigging in Blender.
This is a model of the 1964 Buick Wildcat, with a 425 cubic inch (7 litre) engine and a custom paint job which I found hard to reproduce properly. The model was sold as untested in Blender but I could not resist trying it. This will be the car belonging to one of my main characters, and he will enjoy driving it. I know I would.
Remaining to do is to UV map the seats so I can texture them, add the lights and then rig the model properly.

Very nice looking vehicle. I like that the tyres look as if they have met the road rather than being pristine. :-)
I'm so glad someone noticed the tyres, they were textured using a combination of a bump map and procedural noise, and intended to look a bit dusty and used but not in poor shape. That comment raised my spirits, thanks!
Looks good so far...
Thanks! It won't look much different when finished, just that some parts that don't move yet will do.
Really looks great!
A lot of the credit for that goes to the original modeller. The model was built in Lightwave and is very detailed. I had to add proper Blender materials to it and rig it, and that's about it. I did add hands to the dashboard clock and a pointer to the speedometer, but those are hardly major modelling jobs.
Glad you enjoyed it.
Ok.. still good to me.. i have yet to even make a basic car !...
I didn't make this car, I bought it, I have been converting it for use in Blender. The model was a Wavefront .obj model and very detailed already. It has been fun setting it up along with the others I have done.
ah ok...
