Description
Why do we only ever see one Side of the Moon, the one with the large lunar Oceans? And what is on the other Side?
Well, it is a minor Miracle that the Moon rotates around its own Axis at exactly the same Speed as it orbits the Earth, almost precisely, so that we only ever see the Side with the "Moonface"!
The other Side, the “dark Side” or "far side" of the Moon, had never been seen by Humans until 1959. It was only then that a Soviet lunar probe, Luna 3, transmitted the first Images of the other Side. You can see what it looks like in the Picture above. There were neither Aliens nor Nazis there! ;)
It is completely covered with Craters from the early Bombardment with Debris left over from the Formation of the Solar System and only looks similar to the front Side. The most likely Explanation is that in the early Days, the Moon already had a thin Crust, while the Earth was still glowing Hell. The Heat of the Earth lay like a glowing Hand on the near side, causing the Crust to melt and Lava to escape, forming the dark Spots known as Maria and filling the Craters.
The far side of the Moon, on the other Hand, preserved its older State with all its Impact-Craters.
So let us rejoice in the Splendor that has been given to us with the blue Planet with its now gently wandering Moon, and which today is a far more peaceful Place. The Dark Side shall remember us!

These images of the Moon are beautiful, and all the information You provide is incredibly important. This inspired me to create a moon for my planet. But even after discovering Your secret, I only get ugly images :(
Glad to hear You found it itneresting. We overlook mostly the Things just before us!
I cannot believe that an Image of Yours isnt good looking! If the Idea is a honest and good one, it will cover all Flaws!
But for every Case I put this Moon - which You already owned - in my Freestuff as FBX with Texture. You may try this. If You need another Format, please let me know! Merry Christmas! ;)
Sorry, I noticed that Rosity will first inspect the Moon ... dont know how long this will take!? :(
You're truly too kind!!! I really appreciate this gesture. Don't worry if it's not available right away; in fact, it's better this way, so I can try to practice on my own in the meantime. Thanks again, and All the Best for these holidays and more!!!
I am very sorry to hear that, but its an worthy and honorable Attitude! I will be looking forward, how You evolve Your Image! :)
But it was not without quite an Effect, seems many People downloaded it instead! Another Kind of Christmas-Gift, I could not foresee ... :D
Beautiful!
Glad You liked it! :)
Definitely a tantalisingly mysterious place - yet with a certain subtle beauty. Such a shame we never get to see it from the Earth. :-)
Thank You for Your kind and thoughtful Words! Yes, it has the Beauty of a Face, that memorizes all what happenend, the good and the bad Things!
We will never see it, but we are the first Generations of Mankind with Knowledge about what it looks like. And that is, I think a, a great Privilege ... :)
Interesting view behind the scene
:D illkirch, You always make me break down with Your dry Humor! Thank You! :)
By the way and because its near Christmas: Where does Your Name come from, if I may ask!? :)
No, actually, I'm very happy with this thought You had for me. I was saying don't worry, if it's not available soon, but I saw that it's available right away, I got it and now I'll probably use your Moon instead of moving forward with mine :) :)
Thank You for Your kind Comment, but You are free what You use! I was a bit intrusive, I suppose, uhm ...
