Description
Here's another preview of Characters v4; this time the Common Yellowthroat. One of the three different warbler species included (Nashville and Orange-crowned are the other two).
The breeding range of the Yellowthroat stretches across most of the United States, the Canadian provinces, and western Mexico. They winter in similar habitats with dense vegetation in the southern United States, Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean. They are a "Near-Threatened" species due habitat destruction by humans.
This species is sexually dimorphic. Adult males are bright yellow below, with a sharp black face mask and olive upper-parts. A thin whitish line sets off the black mask from the head and neck. Females are a plain olive brown, usually with yellow brightening the throat and under the tail. They lack the black mask.
