Description
My main girl is now ready for superfly renders in Poser 13! I'll obviously be tweaking her as time goes by but my ultimate goal is to make sure people can barely tell the difference between my firefly and superfly renders... which will be a bizarre challenge as superfly's lighting is vastly superior. I'm just going to have to be very subtle about it.
Lali Marie d'Aubigny is the main character of my comics. Like me, born and raised in Africa, studying abroad, and massively impatient with an unstoppable appetite for life and cheekiness... well she's 10 times worse tbh.
Thanks for all the comments and like thusfar, truly appreciated. I'll reply asap!

A worthy goal (I think Firefly produces superior results).
I honestly can't tell the difference already. Here's why ..... Your FireFly renders are so immaculate I can't imagine better results. A few things occur to me though. I understand your objective here in rendering and perfecting Lali in SuperFly, but it's a controlled environment. Your scenes are massive and amazing and recently staged outside. I honestly don't know if I have ever seen a SuperFly render of an outside environment. But maybe I have and I didn't know? I truly don't know. I'm just also thinking that adding props changes everything with lighting. But that being said? Your erogirl render yesterday including props was beyond excellent.
I hope a bunch of people will contribute comments and insights on these uploads like hborre yesterday because I am really weak on the technical side of things and I learn something with every thought exchanged. I'm like The Joker. I like the simple things. LOL. Except instead of gasoline and gun powder and dynamite, I like morphs and wardrobe and hair. LOL!
I love what you are dong here, my friend!
Hehe thanks for the compliments! I started out knowing absolutely nothing... and still don't know all that much. My main method of achieving a nice render comes for from my traditional art background, with painting and drawing. I like slightly exaggerating things to help accentuate and create a stronger illusion, rather than going for perfect reality. Even in photography and studio sets, we add a filler light here and a bit of make up there, just to get the shadows a bit deeper, or accentuate someone's shape. In the end I just want to have fun, and I usually achieve that by noodling around and totally screwing up things before I find a happy balance :D
Superfly lighting draws from three sources: legacy Poser lighting, mesh emission lighting, and HDRIs. There is better control with interior lighting, depending on how realistic you are willing interject into your scene (Hollywood light vs real-life situation). Exterior lighting will give better results if you incorporate HDRI for ambient illumination, and selective lighting from one to multiple sources. Superfly gives you the added advantage to illuminate your scene with blackbody features, temperature emissions based on the Kelvin temperature scale. The lower the Kelvin temperature, the warmer the lighting, best for simulating candle light or incandescent bulbs. Drive the Kelvin temperature to a high value, and you can simulate noon, blue sky illumination or shadowed outdoor scenes. This is now my preferred method of Superfly lighting for all rendered scenes.
Hey hey thanks for the tips! I indeed spotted the black body node in the cycles options. I think I might give that a try! I assume that would be for the emission inputs, right?
I love every word of this! So brilliant and enlightening in every way. I'll keep this brief because I don't want to hijack erogenesis' comments, but the Kelvin temperature especially intrigued me because I remember you mentioning it on your camera upload, hborre. So fascinating.
Thank you, erogenesis, for starting this conversation!
These both look excellent! Very life-like, and she's a sweet looking hottie! Your adorable lady sounds like she'd be a fun date!
I'm hoping to do some equipment updates, then get Poser 13, as well as DAZ added to my toolbox. Lots of good information here! Thanks, guys!
I agree, posing is excellent, it is not perfect, but we can do a lot of great things like the ones you are showing us. Thank you for your exchanges with hborre , it helps us to progress.
Ok, so if you hadn’t mentioned that these are two different materials, I honestly wouldn’t have noticed. I still don’t see any difference — really, none! Are those actually two separate settings? XD By the way, I’ve decided — I definitely want PE now. I have no idea if she’ll feel comfortable among what feels like a hundred other little dolls, but I want her, seriously! I’ve seen quite a few renders of her now, and she just looks so much more real than so many others — incredible. I’ve never noticed that level of realism before. Such a stunning woman.
