Could be a test to detect ARMD
I had an appointment with my optometrist yesterday. They had me look into one of those gadgets that examine your eyes. During part of the exam, there was a grid very similar to this, only with red lines. I'd look at a target in the middle, and another red line would scan, and render an image of my retinas. Fascinating. And this is as well!
