Description

I managed to get several semi-decent shots of the lunar eclipse / "blood moon" last night / this morning. This was taken at around 02:00 AM. I wish I'd had a stronger telephoto lens - this was a 200 - 300mm at 300. ISO was 2000, shutter speed about 1/6th. Trust me, I bracketed like a madman to get this. These don't happen every day.. And I'm a night-owl anyway, so a 2:00 AM shoot is no big deal. The next one of these happens sometime in 2026, I believe. The second shot from my phone is my setup and its intended target. Canon EOS 6D with 200 - 300 f5.6 lens. I used the timer feature on the camera to prevent camera shake. In other news.... Yes, I am working on the TNA story in between about a million other things (not really, but it seems like it a lot lately). I'm re-writing the last few pages of Chapter 7. The present world situation (and its "personalities") are giving me tons of material to work with. This little "extended" break I'm on started pretty much as soon as March arrived. And it arrived with the intensity of hitting a brick wall. At 70 miles per hour. On a bicycle. Paperwork / interviews for Medicare Advantage plans. Dentist appointments. Wellness appointments for Medicare. Tax forms for cashed bonds. Etc. Etc. Not sure why I bothered to retire.. Anyhoo.... Hope to be back among the gang here at Rendo soon. Great shot of the 'blood moon', Rod. I got up to go out and watch it myself, but it's still pretty cold here at night for standing around outside. I did watch it for a short while, because, as you say, these don't happen every day. 😄

I see the bad moon arising, I see trouble on the way. I meant to stay up and look at it, but Mr. Sandman had other plans. Your photo here is just great.

We had clouds mostly, but I managed a quick shot through a "hole" about 45 minutes into the process.

I remember the daddy of your camera, the Canon EOS 5D --- that was an amazing camera, but a bit too pricey for me at the time.

For me as well.. I really wanted a 5D, but that price sticker.... 😲 I'm perfectly happy with my 6D, though.

Great shot of this blood moon. I know how difficult it is to get a good photo of the moon. You have to have the right equipment, and it looks like you have it. Fantastic.

sweet, rod...it's always amazing to see that this planet actually casts a shadow...I never think of Earth doing that, but here it is. And such a deep mysterious red shadow. Sweet capture. It's great to do shots of the heavens, isn't it? Take a break from what's going on down here? I'm just back for a comment or two (I left a long one on your most recent tna piece---take a box lunch, you'll need it!) It's a pleasure. (I didn't even know the blood moon was there---I must've had my head in the sand!)
