Description
In my latest Songbird ReMix project, I chose two South American types of birds with fun names; Flowerpiercers & Leaftossers. Flowerpiercers are easy to identify due to their upturned beaks. That upturn beak helps them live up to their name. Leaftossers are mostly ground based, kicking up leaves to find insects, hence their name.
The Indigo Flowerpiercer has a relatively small range in western Colombia and northwest Ecuador. This range is from the northern end of the central Andes and Pacific slope of the western Andes from Risaralda (Cerro Tatamá), in Colombia, southward to northwestern Ecuador (Pichincha).
Up perched in the tree is the South American Leaftosser.
