Description
"Ah, I see our guest is recovering consciousness," Madame Airi said as she descended into the rocket's salon. "Keep your lightning pistol at ready, Kim Su."
Molly's art notes: Set up and rendered with Poser 13.2.518 using the Superfly Cycles X rendering engine. Some post work was done in Superfly (de-noising, exposure, spectral bloom) and a tad more in Photoshop (sharpness, saturation, subtle vignette). Madame Airi Tanaka is based on La Femme 2 and Kim Su Woo is based on V4. Madame Airi's costume is imported from an OBJ acquired at CGtrader and fitted and rigged in the fitting room. I'm not all that happy with the materials in the costume but was not ready to retexture the whole thing.😆
The story outline I have in mind involves kidnapping another of my characters, the Professora, in an attempt to use her expertise at communication in a plot to steal treasure from the inhabitants of Venus. The steampunk planet of Venus I envision is covered with jungles à la Edgar Rice Burroughs' stories.

Heh - ya beat me to it with the spaceship :) My fault, been working on other non rendering bits and bobs...
Characters look great - mixing oriental characters and steampunk themes should work nicely and could be quite forgiving if you border on trope. Might work better that way, actually.
I don't think Madame's costume textures look bad at all unless the trousers aren't supposed to be leather. If they are, you're good to go. if not, let's claim they are :)
Thanks, JD. As always, I love hearing from you. Madame Airi Tanaka and her minions have been featured in a couple other pictures; I love East Asian characters and I agree that they work well as exotic characters in a steampunk setting.
Madame Airi's leather pantaloons and boots are OK, I guess, but what bugs me is that the textures that came with the content include some shadows that are "baked" in rather than allowing the lighting and rendering to do all the work. This is particularly noticeable on Airi's blouse. Trouble is the texture for the outfit is one image so I would have a lot of fiddly work to do to get rid of the baked in shading. Me too lazy. XD

Fantastic use of all your resources to produce a fantastic image, Molly! Lots of praises from me to you for all the fine works you produce! Kudos to the max!
Thank you so much for the lovely encouragement, Rad. It means a lot and is fuel for my creative engine. For some reason, I've been running a bit low on fuel lately... XD

i often use dear Madde's Kimsu character. super pov on them and room.
Thanks for the kind words and validation of my content choices, my dear! <3 I certainly agree about Madde's characters in general and this one is particularly lovely. =)

Great characters and costumes!
Thank you! The Fitting room is my friend as the minion's costume is really designed for M4 and Madame Airi's costume is an imported OBJ file. I'd be hopeless at rigging such things in the Setup room but the Fitting room makes things a snap. =)

I agree with A_Sunbeam!
Thank you, Alain. I always love to hear from you and appreciate your encouragement! =)

Tne baked-oin textures on the blouse seem to be most visible on the sleeves, unless I'm mixing the baked-ins with the texture's attempt to respond to light. I've run into this with 'game rip' canonical clothing defying re-texcturing to the extent I'm willing to go, which normally involves some form of plug and play. Pop in in, set your tiles, tweak a little with color and top surface and call it a day. If it stinks, make another selection :)
Then again, some of the game rip clothing is quite impressive - even if not on the game toon - if you stay within their posing limits.
Yep; sleeves and breast ruffle are where it's most noticeable. I wasn't happy with it but it didn't make my eyes bleed and I really like the outfit. One day, I may get around to redoing the textures but for the moment, WYSIWYG. XD
