It is a beautiful scene. The structure looks fine. Well done.

Thanks so much, Gisela :-)

Beautiful!!!!!!! Wonderful way to show this off.
perpetualrevision 8:19PM | Mon, 30 May 2022
Thanks! It figures that after I did this one, I can't come up with anything I like for the other Jack Tomalin structures I've tried! Oh well... something will eventually come to me! Adding specular nodes to the structure's surfaces made quite a difference in how this one came out :-)

Have to agree with the commenters above: beautiful! I don't have any ideas, really, about the splashing; it would have been cool if you could have pulled it off. I don't know that the prop splashes by the likes of Flink would have worked and I think I, too, would have opted for painting them after rendering. As it stands, though, beautiful!

Thank you, Molly! I actually finished the scene a few weeks ago but decided to hold off on posting it in case I thought of some ways to improve it (esp. the splashes), but my mind just went kind of blurry whenever I thought about working on it, so I decided to just go ahead and share it. Of course, in retrospect I wish I'd spent more time with splash brushes, but oh well!
I do have those splash objects by Flink, but I've had a heck of a time getting them to look right b/c I can never seem to get the splash material to match the water material. I'm still kinda traumatized by the days I spent trying to get the splashes to look right in this scene, and I was so impressed when I saw how you used them so well in the Envoy's scene on the lake!

Beautiful scene! Love it! It is all still and calm with the flag, birds and waves bring some movement to the scene. Something that got me thinking is the horizon line, as it is always far away shouldn't we get a clean flat line? Maybe fixed in post if is easier.
perpetualrevision 8:52PM | Mon, 30 May 2022
Thanks so much for the comment! I like that the sea looks "alive" and not flat, but you're probably right about the horizon line. I think I should've rendered with DOF enabled and maybe that would've softened the horizon so that it looks less noticeably uneven!

Hey this looks really good. You really do firefly justice in your work. This looks like a classic work of art, kudos to you and the vendor. Jack doe's have amazing work and I have a lot of his work. Now you make me want to did in my Runtime drawer. :) As far as the s[lashes go, it is tricky to get those right as a 3d object. I think finding brushes is the way to go, but you did well not leaving the splashes in if it were going to take away from this scene. But your scene is really nice and I envision this as an opening scene from a movie of Rapunzel.
perpetualrevision 8:55PM | Mon, 30 May 2022
Thanks so much for the comment! I do like using brushes and other tools to add things to renders, but I'd like to get more experience using water and splash brushes in particular, as I really like how they look when they work well! I think I did OK with the splashes in this scene, but of course that was a stormy sea and the sea in the scene above is much more calm!
abstracht 3:17PM | Tue, 24 May 2022
Very nicely done!
mazzam 3:37PM | Tue, 24 May 2022
Wonderful image and scene. At this scale you probably wouldn't see the splashes anyway with such a calm sea.
perpetualrevision 9:01PM | Mon, 30 May 2022
Thanks for the comment! That's kinda what I was thinking, that there might be a little bit of "water spitting" around the edges of the big rock but not big splashes both b/c the sea is fairly calm and because the rock isn't near the shore.

Beautiful work.
eekdog 5:54PM | Tue, 24 May 2022
That tower sure has a beautiful view of the area. Nice composition.
perpetualrevision 9:02PM | Mon, 30 May 2022
Thanks for the comment! I almost put a figure in there, enjoying the view, but I knew I'd get bogged down in ultimately minor details like which figure, skin, hair, outfit, etc. to use. I spend too much time in that "bog" already! :-)
OmniFX 8:21PM | Tue, 24 May 2022
Wow, really cool looking tower. I just can imagine the effort of the people that built the tower. Can't see behind the tower so don't know how far it is from land but regardless would still be an enormous undertaking to construct it. Excellent job!
perpetualrevision 9:04PM | Mon, 30 May 2022
Thanks for the comment! Building that tower in 3D was probably also a considerably challenge! I don't know if it was inspired by a real tower or just came out of Jack Tomalin's imagination. But I sure wouldn't want to have to climb all those stairs, no matter how amazing the view at the top :-)

Stunning scene. I'd live there.

But I bet you wouldn't want to carry your groceries all the way to the top :-) Thanks for the comment!

Excellent composition,wonderful scene!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
enigma-man 9:28AM | Wed, 25 May 2022
I have to agree with all above commenters. It turned out great. Water scenes are difficult to get it "just right".
perpetualrevision 9:05PM | Mon, 30 May 2022
Thanks so much for the comment! I love rendering water, but it does present a few challenges :-)
Flint_Hawk 11:17AM | Wed, 25 May 2022
This structure deserves being the star of the picture & you have certainly shown it off to its best! Marvelous lighting & the birds do add additional life to the scene!
perpetualrevision 9:08PM | Mon, 30 May 2022
Thanks so much!! This is the scene that prompted me to realize that I'd missed the opportunity to get some SBRM seagulls on sale. I already had the flock formations, which are great, but in the future I'd like some individual birds to pose here or there as needed :-)
I do want to do similar scenes with other Jack Tomalin structures, but so far none of the others have come together the way this one did!
DRAKELOT 8:59PM | Wed, 25 May 2022
Xcellent !!!

Thanks so much for the comment, and you're welcome for the comments :-)

Amazing! wow
perpetualrevision 9:10PM | Mon, 30 May 2022
Thanks! It may seem like a small thing, but re-doing the specular settings on all parts of the tower and rock made such a big improvement in how this structure rendered!
