Description

Bunny: "Excuse me, what day is it? I got rather involved in sampling these candy eggs and may have missed an important delivery deadline!" ==AMY’S NOTES== I got Noggin’s Rabbit & Hare figure the day before Easter, which meant I didn’t have time to use him for an Easter scene, so I came up with this idea that the Bunny had gotten lost in eating candy and forgot about his big day. The scene didn’t quite work out the way I’d been hoping, so I was planning to try working on it and re-rendering later. And then something really strange happened: I was hit with a case of "transient global amnesia" that lasted nearly 20 hours, and that kinda threw everything off! So I’m only now getting back to the bunny, who has apparently also gone through his own bout with amnesia! Given that Easter is getting further and further away, I decided to not work further on the scene and just go with it "as is." I had put off getting this rabbit figure after some things I’d read, particularly about the textures being rather old, but I love bunnies and the price went low enough, so I gave it a try. I agree that the figure could benefit from some new textures, but otherwise it’s not too bad, although I probably wouldn’t recommend it for a closeup like what I did here. I tried a few things in Photoshop in hopes of improving the look of the fur, at least where it wasn’t already blurred by DOF, but painting on an already posed figure is not my strong suit, and I would’ve had no idea how to paint it a proper bunny nose. If I can find some source textures (including the nose), I might make it a new coat, and maybe I’ll also consider growing it some fur in Poser’s Hair Room. Or maybe I’ll just be content to use it in the background! Rendered in April 2022 using Firefly in Poser Pro 11.3 for Mac at 2048 × 1152 pixels. DOF enabled. CHARACTER: Noggin’s Rabbit & Hare figure.

Great posing and expression on the rabbit!

Thanks! When I first got the idea for this scene, I imagined the bunny looking more surprised or quizzical and maybe slightly more toony, but of course it's meant to be a realistic rabbit, so none of those things were possible. But I'm glad some degree of surprise was conveyed by his pose!

Oh, I really love this!! I love the idea, I love the egg on his head, the dof, and the camera angle that makes me feel like a fellow rabbit that caught him in the act. See, I am the kind of person that will gloss over certain details if the image delivers sentiment, and that is certainly the case for this delightful scene. Sure, high quality fur would have been nice, but I am still happy you made and posted it. And thanks for the giggles.

Thanks so much, RubyTuesday :-) I initially had a piece of egg dangling from his ear too, but that seemed like too much! I'm not even sure what kind of candy might come in eggs, or I would've strewn some of that about as well, if I had it. (Maybe jelly beans? It's been nearly 50 years since I went to an Easter egg hunt!)

When I first came up with the idea, I was hoping the rabbit would be more expressive and maybe even slightly toony, but it's meant to be more realistic, so the body language doesn't quite capture the, "Who? Me?" look of chagrin I was hoping for. The egg on the head probably does, though :-)

Honestly, if I had only done the first render without DOF, I probably wouldn't have shared it. But the DOF version made it just interesting enough to find it worth sharing.

So that's what it is called - "transient global amnesia" - and I bet it is caused by eating too much candy! That must be why my Easter candy was late arriving. It sounds like the Easter bunny needs to join Chocoholics Anonymous before next Easter!

What a clever idea! I love it! You have done a great job disguising the lack of details in the hare's hair. Tee hee!

I'm not sure what kind of amnesia the bunny had, but I had the "transient global amnesia" kind and it was honestly the weirdest thing that has ever happened to me -- and I've had some pretty weird medical things! I vaguely recall doing some Poser stuff and posting a render here on Wednesday midday, and then the next thing I knew, it was early Thursday morning, I was in a hospital, and I was listening to a recording from my wife in which she explained what had happened. Each time I got to the end of the recording, I couldn't remember the beginning, so I think I listened like 20 times before something started to stick.

After I posted the render here on Wednesday midday, I apparently rode my bike out to see my horse, took her on a walk (for far longer and in stranger routes than I usually do), and then rode my bike home on the more direct (but not usual) route. I only know I did these things b/c I had enabled a "ride tracking" app that shows a trail of my peculiar wanderings! I got home after dark (also unusual) and alarmed our housemate and my wife by not being able to remember anything beyond a minute or two, including the word "amnesia," which my wife used to test my memory! (ha, ha) So she took me to the ER, where they did a bunch of tests and put me in the hospital overnight for observation, all of which led to no other obvious cause, so the conclusion was "transient global amnesia," which is basically medicine's way of saying, "We have no idea what just happened to you, but we think it's unlikely it will happen again."

I visited my horse a few days later, but she was of no help in reconstructing the events of Wednesday afternoon :-) Hmm, I sure hope it has nothing to do with the consumption of caramel mocha Peeps, b/c I still have a few more to go!!

Awwww You made this bunny look great. The shell on his head is just too cute!

Thanks! I had originally put an egg shell on his ear, too, but that seemed like too much, so he got to keep the "egg cap" :-) For most scenes where I might want a bunny (but not in a closeup), I think this model will do just fine! When I want a slightly more stylized bunny, I can use the one by Summoner. For a toon bunny, there's always the one by elleque!

gosh, A - your imagination is just so full and fertile [like an egg[?], but not the chocolate kind, and i really should just not type every little immediate thought i have, i guess] i just so appreciate your huge sense of play that pours so strongly and frequently through your images. seriously, if i'm in need of a smile, a giggle, a bit of joy, all i need to do to find it is head to your gallery, you clever girl :))

Aw, thank you so much for such a kind comment, Giana! I have so many ideas for scenes I want to render, but I do tend to gravitate to the ones that are light-hearted and amusing in some way, and I'm always glad to hear when they bring others a bit of amusement as well :-)

Great image and DOF works well with the bunny! One thing about bunnies which is interesting with their eye position without moving their head they can see almost 360 degrees (340-350). Very cute image!

Thanks for the comment! I didn't know that about bunny vision! But I guess that makes sense so that they can always detect danger around them? We used to have baby bunnies at the horse farm I lived on until last year, and they would stay stock still just outside the door while the dogs went nuts inside. I think they knew the dogs couldn't get to them and that they were daring each other to "play chicken" -- at least until the door was opened, and then they disappeared!

I'm not sure who was supposed to be getting this batch, but yeah, they were delivered right to the rabbit's belly :-) (I'm guessing that the eggs were full of jelly beans!)

Your comment reminded me that I'd originally meant to work in some White Rabbit type of dialogue here. Oops! But yes, he's very late. I should've given him a pocket watch :-)

Not much I can add to the comments above. I think the use of DoF lends a sense of "peeking" into an intimate moment. The bunny's pose which centers on the big shiny eye looking toward the camera which contributes to the feeling of "What's going on here?" as does the candy egg shell on the beast's head. XD It works a bit better than you might expect, I think. =)

As for transient global amnesia? Weird stuff for sure. I wish we had a better handle on what causes it. I hope you'll not have any more problems with it. =(

Thanks, Molly! The rabbit figure isn't particularly expressive, but I'm glad you got where I was going with the way I posed the figure and the bit of egg shell on its head! I'm not sure what candy was meant to be inside those eggs. Maybe jelly beans? We'll never know b/c that bunny isn't talking :-)

My mind is still pretty fuzzy, and we're still leaning towards some kind of head injury, but the truth is we'll never know what happened! I don't remember riding my bike out to see my horse, walking her all over the place, and then riding the bike back (after dark), but I do that nearly ever day (except for the after dark part), so I must've been on autopilot. The horse has been no help whatsoever in helping me reconstruct the events of that afternoon, but I suspect she got more than her usual amount of time at the "snack bar" (a grass patch in the neighborhood), so she's kinda hoping it happens again :-)
