And yes, NATO, UN, and EU didn't do enough. Yes, the sanctions are crippling Stalin 2.0's war chest, and YET he continues his death march towards Kyiv! If the capital falls, fingers will be pointing at each other when FISTS against the Pseudo Czar were (AND STILL!) necessary!

I'm afraid that too, they should have intervened immediately, then this nightmare would be over, but they're all glued to their chairs instead of doing something useful!

The Western World should have intervened when that whole thing started with the annexion of the Crimea. Now it is too late. I think a military intervention of the western world at this time would be suicide. Not that I think Russia is that strong as we often anticipated (actually their warfare is pitiful and their material - at least the air force - in a pretty desolate condition), but as long as he has nukes, every sign of loosing (not only the war, but also his face and his honor and pride) could make him to a totally dangerous rat. I read somewhere, that Putin was grown up in a very poor vicinity and that he used to hunt the rats in their house. They say he told a story once, that when he was on Rat hunt and cornered a Rat, the Rat saw no way to escape than attacking him and hurting him and then escaped. I don't know when and where he seemed to tell this story, but he concluded:"Never corner a rat, or it will attack and hurt you!" If this story is ever true, then it might very well be that he took his lesson from that experience and that now he compares his situation with that of this Rat and hopes for the asme outcome! Therefore he is dangerous without compare. If he looses and realizes, that his time is over and he failed, he probably won't be afraid of destroying all the Western world he hates so much and tear them in to the grave as he steps down his own grave. The most dangerous people are those who don't have anything to loose anymore. The probably fastest and "cleanest" end of this war would only be by some one of his own spies or KGB-Fellows to "remove" him. The Russian People won't protest or try to remove him, because he can declare the state of military law and then he can pursue and kill everyone daring to step in his way. Alone the fact that he left the Council of europe shows, that he no longer will accept the rules and the conventions of Geneva. So every attempt of the NATO, EU or UN to intervene military wise would end in a total disaster. Sorry to say that, but the situation at time being is waaaaaay more dangerous than any situation ever during the cold war.

@UTE: Well if YOU describe the EU as "Paragraph riders", then probably at least YOU understand why Switzerland is not keen on joining the EU no matter how much they threaten and sanctioning Switzerland. Unfortunately many people don't understand the side of the Swiss people and accuse them of being "Raisin pickers" with their Bi-Lateral contracts, but it has nothing to do with "Raisin picking" but more with valuing the state of freedom and autonomy they have now and would have to give up in the EU.

FurNose is right about Putin. If he is backed into a corner we know what he would do. If you look at pictures of Putin from a few years ago he looked ill. Now he looks like he is on steroids with his puffy face. If he was dying he would have nothing to lose.

Putin got Botox injections to look younger again, but his red eyes and puffy face tell me otherwise!
