Here's a sneak peak at Songbird ReMix Hummingbirds v3 which should be out soon... The horned Sun-gem is found in central and eastern Brazil and adjoining Bolivia with a disjunct population in south Surinam and north Brazil. It feeds on flower nectar from bushes and trees as well as small insects. This hummingbird has a short, straight bill. Males are easily identified by their long tail, bright blue caps, dark blue/purple gorgets, white chests and small iridescent “horns” of feathers above and behind the eyes. The tail feathers are narrow and pointed with the four central feathers being the longest. The central pair are green and the remainder are white. Females are similar to males, but lack the blue crowns/horns and the gorgets (have white throats). It is the sole member of the genus, Heliactin. It can achieve 90 wingbeats per second when it's hovering to drink nectar from flowers. A wingbeat is one complete up-and-down movement, which means that the Horned Sungem moves its wing muscles at a rate of more than 10,000 times per minute. Rendered in Iray without any poskwork.
