-o§o- It is actually not a matter of chance if many painters have come to live for some time or a lifetime in Provence to perfect their personal art, in terms of color and light rendering. William Turner, considered by some a true precursor of Impressionism, Marc Chagall, Auguste Renoir, Vincent Van Gogh, Paul Cézanne, Paul Gauguin, all of them mentioned here (among many others not so famous as well) came to Provence and were fascinated not only by the changing light and the extraordinary variety of trees and flowers, but also by the quality of light found in Provence which is unique and so special, because it never is intense nor harsh, whatever the season of the year.
-o§o- This is, once again, a photo shot about a week ago, a couple of yards off the circular sentry path that used to protect the small picturesque town of Lourmarin....On a November sunny though chilly day ...

It's beautiful and also in your work the sun and shadows are perfect. Love all these painters that went their own way, surprizing with their art and sometimes had not even food. When we see the vallue today its not normal. Today the Durch Government bought a Rembrandt (€175.000.000 where he painted himself as a carrier of the flag. It was the time the Dutch got their own country, as it is today. Strange enough we only discovered yesterday that a forefather had taken lessons in painting from him. I have been often to Versailles and see their the herritage of la belle France. It is only a pitty that paintings often are sold and never are seen.

Wow, didn't know this place was the favorite haunt of so many artists. Maybe the spirits of some of them might still be haunting this place? (I mean that in a positive way. :) )
Not only would this be a nice place to live, it would be an honor to live here too, this place being graced by the presence of so many major artists!

This image is so beautiful...I was raised in the country, on a farm with almost 200 acres to roam in, I live in the city now (which I hate) so this takes me home a bit...thank you for sharing your world and your so perfect English that you write...I just wanted to wish you a Happy Easter and spend a little time in peace here:)
