-o§o- It is actually not a matter of chance if many painters have come to live for some time or a lifetime in Provence to perfect their personal art, in terms of color and light rendering. William Turner, considered by some a true precursor of Impressionism, Marc Chagall, Auguste Renoir, Vincent Van Gogh, Paul Cézanne, Paul Gauguin, all of them mentioned here (among many others not so famous as well) came to Provence and were fascinated not only by the changing light and the extraordinary variety of trees and flowers, but also by the quality of light found in Provence which is unique and so special, because it never is intense nor harsh, whatever the season of the year.
-o§o- This is, once again, a photo shot about a week ago, a couple of yards off the circular sentry path that used to protect the small picturesque town of Lourmarin....On a November sunny though chilly day ...

Comment ne pas tomber sous le charme de ces villages, Lourmarin, Cucuron, Ansouis, etc ? J'y aurais bien acheté une maison mais un déménagement signifie la perte de ses contacts et à nos âges...ces considérations mise à part, je dois dire que je suis émerveillé par ta photo, superbe, il n'y a pas d'autres mots pour la qualifier.
En effet, la lumière est très belle, et l'ensemble des maisons environnées d'arbres très harmonieux.......magnifique prise de vue automnale, Jean-Luc !

An inspiring vista for any artist... or writer.
There is something magical about the colours and their distribution in this composition that lifts what would be a mundane scene, if shot by me, into a gorgeous picture of delight and interest. You also manage to get the sun to help, not by bathing it all in light, but by picking out certain areas and deftly highlighting them, quite amazing :)
I can see why a painter would want to live there. This is an absolutely gorgeous scene, with little splashes of color everywhere. Beautiful capture!
