Description
Responding to an online rumor "Pixie" Dust convinced her room mate to join a midnight expedition to the laboratory of Professor Cecil Kroftmann.
"Candles and gaslight! This place is so cool. Look at that microscope and all the chemistry stuff! The rumor is that Professor Kroftmann is creating life in this laboratory. It's only him and those two creepy girls that live here!" Pixie could barely contain her excitement.
"Dr. Van Humbeek respects Dr. Kroftmann, Pix. We really ought to go." Brooke swung her flashlight to take in the room and stopped abruptly. "Eh. Pix?"
"Geez, get the light out of my eyes. What?!?"
Molly's art notes: Set up and rendered in Poser 12.0.619 using the Superfly Cycles 2 rendering engine. As usual, I am REALLY challenged in conveying a dark scene! Tweaked for contrast and a bit of vignette in Photoshop. Brooke Potts is based on the Dawn mesh with morphs and textures by Tempesta3d. The monster is based on Michael 4 also with morphs and textures by Tempesta3d. Pixie is based on Project Evolution by erogenesisCGI with morphs by sasmson1111 available at ShareCG (I wish more had been done with this mesh; it's truly a wonderful piece of work that I should use more!). The characters depicted are mine: Brooke Potts is a graduate assistant to Professor Elizabeth Van Humbeek and her hacker room mate Patricia "Pixie" dust is a perpetual student with no declared major who mostly uses the University of River Heights' computer network to access the world. Professor Kroftmann who is not depicted studies "life force" apart from the biological presentation and is interested in the elders, magical beings who lived below the city long, long ago and have left a degenerate race called the slender folk in the present.

Heh. Yeah, Pixie is almost within the monster's grasp. I think I should have done more of a close up to highlight that tension and the picture would be more effective. I just was in love with the content and wanted to pull back enough to see some of it... >.<

Great lighting and POV
Thank you, my dear. I struggle a lot with scenes that are supposed to be taking place at night. Using the flashlights in the hands of the two girls to illuminate faces and the monster's upper bits helped a lot. As for point of view, I am in love with the content and showed a lot of it. It occurs to me it might have been more effective to move in more tightly on the girls and monster, maybe showing only their upper bits. I may try it again framed in that matter with the lighting tweaked a bit.

Absolutely wonderful!!!!!! Fantastic atmosphere and lighting as always :) I don't think I would be quite as brave as these investigating in this creepy place. LOL

I find working with light in dark scenes can be challenging to get the balance right.........and this render has managed to capture the atmosphere.........congratulations
It's so nice of you to validate that it's challenging to get some sort of convincing lighting when dealing with dark scenes! Once and awhile I get one right! >.<
