Here's the Blue-headed Macaw (sometimes known as "Coulon's macaw" from my upcoming "Macaws of the World"
This macaw is found in eastern Peru and extreme western Brazil southward to northern Bolivia. It occurs in the south-west Amazon Basin and adjacent east Andean foothills. It prefers openings in humid forest and is known to visit clay-licks. Flight call is a distinctive, fairly mellow, rolling “graaa”, often in series. When perched, a variety of calls with similar rather mellow quality.
This macaw is listed as "vulnerable" in the wild because of habitat loss and illegal capture for the pet trade. This macaw can sells for $4,000 to $12,500 in the pet trade market. International trade has risen in the past 25 years for this bird, despite it being protected by the CITES treaty (the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora).
