Description
White-crowned pigeons are found in the Caribbean from Florida Keys and southern tip of mainland Florida, the Bahamas, the Greater and Lesser Antilles as far south as Guadeloupe. It is also found on Caribbean islands off coast of Central America from Yucatán southward to northwest Panama and north-central Colombia.
It is an arboreal feeder, mostly foraging on fruits. In Florida Keys, it feeds on flowers of black mangrove (Avicennia germinans) and fruit of Florida poisontree, blolly (Guapira discolor), strangler fig (Ficus aurea), short-leaved fig and black torch (Erithalis fruticosa). In Jamaica, feeds on Bursera simaruba in the lowlands and Dipholis at moderate altitudes.
