Montage of three pictures of ancient statues of the Virgin Mary polychrome wood
Whether one is a believer or not, it does not matter, everyone has the right to respond in his own way to the mystery of our lives. But I am still deeply touched to see the artworks created by our ancestors almost 1000 years ago, whether in wood or in stone.

I'm also amazed at the beautiful statues that are so incredibly old. Really enjoyed the view of these JC. Great three pk of captures my friend.
Interesting old work.
Very beautiful ancient statues of the Virgin Mary, thank you for this very interest shots!
Splendid photos of these amazing statues from ancient times! Always a pleasure sharing your views of the world!
c'est un excellent document historique, bravo
I like the 12th century, where you see the handcraft and the impossible to do, although the other figures are for their time leading. In the 15th century you see the influence of the crown. Final the 13th century where the headdress and the stars in the cloths are leading. The virgin was seen as a star. I hope you like this virgin too that is wood crafted in Maastricht
I am not the least bit religious, but do appreciate religious architecture, music and icons. These statues are amazing and to think they have held up so well over the centuries...interesting to see how the attire changed over the centuries...thanks for the share :)
Wonderful idea to show this devoted artwork across the centuries. Truely inspiring to see these and a great presentation my friend!!!
Beautiful captures! Your photos are always great! Thank you for sharing!
Jolies statuettes
It's wonderful to see the creativity from so many centuries ago. How these statues survived the years adds to the wonder they bring. Thank you for sharing this!
Wonderful statues, all of them.
I am deeply touched, too, Jean, by their creations! It amazes me!
Superbe photo, J-Claude .
Excellent
