Description
I do not know if the upper wires for lightening are being installed or additional power lines
the helicopter pilot is amazingly skilled. I watched for a short time and the copter was not moving even in a slight breeze

He has to be a great pilot for others to accept putting their lives in his hands! And the electrician has to be very brave to be able to work confidently between those wires, which I assume are high voltage, while his life literally hangs by a thread!

This is more spectacular than a trapeze show in a circus! You also got a spectacular shot of that scene. These wires are running at an electrical potential of at least 100 kV (thousands volts). maybe 750 kV; the lineman is probably working with live wires, just below him. As you have mentioned, and rightly concluded, the top wires must be for lightning protection.

Gosh Richard! I am sure there is another way of doing it. I served my time as an Electrician and worked on 3 Phase sub stations, but never any overhead like that. That poor man and his Pilot! I think that because we have a Grid in UK it is possible to isolate stretches of the power whilst working on, or upgrading a supply cable.

Yeah, from this angle it looks like he's working on a connector for the lightning strike cables. No voltage there - I would imagine those are grounded through the towers. That would take a very skilled pilot.

Definitely not something you want to be doing on a windy day. Amazingly skilled pilot and brave electrician. Kudos for a great photo of this daring duo.
