Description

I have another niece getting married this fall! Fortunately, I have a finite number of nieces and nephews. As far as I know, nobody else is getting married for a while. Alana had so much hot pink stuff sitting around for the bridal shower that I decided on a color pop, even though I almost never do them. I have to have a good reason, otherwise it's just a parlor trick. The lighting inside the house was abysmal, so I have a lot of grainy shots that needed a bunch of post processing, but I did get a few to share with you. (This one was shot outdoors.) Alana and Andy first met in high school when Alana was 15 years old. They dated for quite a while, but broke up when Andy went away to college. They got back together a couple of years later, and have been living together now for 13 years. She'll be 32 in October. They own a home together, they have a dog, and they've always seemed just fine not being married. Imagine my surprise last summer when they announced their upcoming wedding! They're getting married this September.

A pretty young woman. What's that they say about 'If you love something let it go'? Well, Mazel Tov on their upcoming wedding and here's to second chances. I look forward to seeing your chronicle of the happy event.

I'd never heard the term "color pop" but now I have. I take it it means allowing color for one part of an image, but leaving the rest black and white...Well, whatever it means, Alana's pinkish red is beautiful against all that black and white. And she looks into the light beyond the frame (sweet capture). The background is clear enough to be fascinating, and soft enough to be a "background". You captured a sweetness in her, and a slight inquisitive look. A sweet, touching image, and the grain actually brings out the color in her face---something that might not be as visible if this were darker. A very sweet portrait, Tara, and I'm happy you have yet another marriage in your family. And yeah, with Mark, I look forward to any family affairs you choose to photograph...

You always have a knack for making people look their best, Tara. And I think the 'color pop' you did really enhances the image, and rivets the eyes to your main subject. Nicely done!

Another stunning family portrait. Know you've worked your fingers to the bone to reduce the yellows in the shots from Joni's shower for Alana. What? You got something against yellow? :-)
