Barren and yet beautiful
I've been there several times, it's a fascinating place. As for where they went, I think many of them probably went north and became part of the group we know today as the Hopi.
I heard the Anasazi fell victim to cannibalization from a neighboring tribe during an extended drought. Mother nature will kick your ass every time.
