I have a confession. I have gone to the Dark Side (Daz Studio). When they gave the V7 Pro Bundle as a freebie over Black Friday weekend I grabbed it and downloaded Daz Studio to experiment. I have been working with it and find it so much easier than it used to be, but the render times are really long on my anemic system. The three images I posted tonight are some of my first ones. Of course lighting is a problem again and finding things in the Library is a real challenge, but all in all, I am enjoying a lot of the features. My biggest problem is not having access to the gazillion items I’ve amassed in my Poser Library over the years. I know there is a way to get at least some of them into the Daz Library but I haven’t figured it out. I’ve tried to find tutorials and asked in the Forums, but no one understands the profound ignorance I have with the “behind the curtain” works of this program. If any of you have the patience to work at the Moron level of instructions, I would really appreciate a step-by-step lesson in how to import items or runtimes or whatever. I have several things (like SAV’s hair items) that have Daz Friendly materials for but don’t know to transfer them since they are in Poser format (.obj, .cr2, etc.). Hope you enjoy the new images.

In Studio, try this: Edit > Preferences > Content > Content Directory Manager

I stay away from Iray, it takes too long. 3Delight is fine for my purpose. Also, if you go just 3Delight, make sure you don't use Iray textures. Venders will usually include both but with Iray as the default, so you have to switch them.
These are very nice images.
There's no need to convert your content. In Daz Studio you can simply navigate to your Poser libraries and load whatever you want to use. (Unfortunately I can't give you the precise menu choices right this minute because I've got DS doing a long render.) Camera presets don't seem to come out exactly the same, and I've never had a reason to try using Poser light presets in DS, but actual content works fine.

I must say your three "the dark side" images are dramatic, very realistic, well as realistic as possible with Daz Studio. I understand your frustration but I have a suggestion : why don't YOU work the other way round ? I mean, using G3 or G8 in Poser is not this difficult and, in my opinion, the results are better ; the characters' skins are not so grainy in Poser as they are in DS. The first steps are not a piece of cake but after a while it's OK.

All look really good just have fun it doesn't take long to find thing.Importing runtimes in to Daz..................................................... Right click on Poser Formats click on Add Runtime Directory then go find what runtime you want that's it.

As I understand it you need to map the Poser runtime with the content to Daz Studio, try looking at the instructions here http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/userguide/finding_loading_and_organizing_content/tutorials/mapping_directories/start The principle is the same or ask in the New Users forum at Daz3d and they should be able to talk you through it.

Hey, cool render :D , glad to hear you went into the dark side (if Daz is such a thing as a dark side lol ;). I seen a couple comments with the instructions within, so it should be ok, indeed you just need to add your Poser runtimes into Daz, and make sure to use the "Poser format" option. 99% of your Poser content will work in Daz, except procedural shaders, dynamic clothes, I think. I don't know what light you've used, but they already look more realistic than you Poser chars, isn't it ? :) . Don't bother with Poser for using any of the Genesis figures, using them into Poser is a real mess anyway, I would say, keep Poser for when you want to use V4 stuff.
The only thing I did succeed with Daz Studio was to get the Poser library into it. Unfortunately, I can't seem to make peace with the program. It just takes too much out of me to create one image. I'll stick with Poser.

Both Poser and DAZ are good apps, and each has its place. I've been playing with Poser since version 8, and have just recently started messing with DAZ. I enjoy both. It can only expand your artistic horizons and enjoyment, so go for it!

open up daz studio: ............... go to edit - preferences go to content - content directory manager there you can see the directories that are mapped go to poser formats click on new point to the directory your poser content is: (example x:/poser blabla/content / ok and restar restart daz
