Description

The Sacred Heart Mission Catholic Church along with the adjacent Magnum's Gun store and the Texas Pit Barbecue restaurant are located along U.S. Highway 82 in the small village of Cloudcroft, New Mexico. Cloudcroft has a population of about 700 inhabitants, is located in the Sacramento Mountains in Lincoln National Forest 17 miles east of Alamogordo. But Cloudcroft lies at an elevation of 8,860-ft (~2,600 m), 4,400-ft higher than Alamogordo. It is one of the most overlooked vacation spots in the American Southwest and therein lies its charm.
