Description
Didn't gear up to take shots of the eclipse itself, but we went up to a friend's house high in the hills above Medford & watched with our protective glasses. I'm guessing some more technically minded photographers here will post photos of the eclipse itself today. The most surprising thing to me was how much colder it got as the eclipse progressed. Didn't get to see totality here, but we got to about 93%...

This is great! SO glad you didn't waste the experience by taking photos, leave that up to NASA! They have been saying on UK TV how many people miss it because of phones and social media.
It was great watching the sun disappear and feel the cold winds blowing - the birds around us were upset as well...
Great capture! Did you notice that the birds got quiet and that the shadows of trees or poles were blurred!
I did not have any eclipse glasses . looks like they were having a ball. the last time I checked the temperature, it was 89
Aha! Here come the comments on dropping temperature. Shows what an effect the sun has on our climate and weather. I've always said the sun rules! Nice photo. I take it's you and friends. Must have been taken before the eclipse started, the photo's so bright! Keep up the good work! :-)
I took this photo, I'm not in it. My wife is the one on the left & the other two are friends. The eclipse had already started, but at that point had not really darkened the sky much. Even at at it's 93% maximum, it wasn't really very dark . Would have had to have travel to complete totality (or very close) to have experienced real darkness.
Superb capture my friend. Interesting hearing the reaction of the animals and about the fact that it got cooler. God bless.
Excellent page from the book of eclipse watching.
