Yep, been through much bigger ones at times.
Yep, that's one of the things about growing up in Southern California that I really don't miss.
Nope, I retired. I'll be going back to bed now, enjoy the drive.
excellent capture of allday impression and soon the streets are so full that you are faster by food! and traffic stinks 🙄
Great photo ! The air looks pretty clear. I like to go on the internet and look at photos of the freeways when they were being built.
No double trailer rock haulers, this was once the yellow brick road East of the Hollywood freeway and 101 through the lettuce and grape agricultural central valley. I think of it whenever I see the word BUD on a lug rather than a beer can.
Great shot
eekdog (Steve) drove a truck for years, he should know these jams intimately. (And some of your comments I need footnotes for, lol...) This is an ugly scene, but it's a true and terrific shot. I know this sight so well. You got the haze, the grayness of it, the rhythms (incl the rhythms of the center patch) the long lines and receding perspective. And the sense of nature holding its own while the fumes waft over them. Whatever you did with this, you caught the feeling of fumes physically 'brushing over' the whole scene. Strangely beautiful, and a truthful capture of this common urban sight. And amazing, too, that this leads from Mexico straight up to Canada. You got this down pat.
OH Yeah. Tried that many times on my way from work and to the summehouse and home again. Sometimes we could walk besides the car for many many kilometers such a sunday afternoon on our way home from this summerhouse to Copenhagen, when we lived there :) And it took 3½ hours. 2 hours more than usual. But now we have new roads so it rarely happens anymore, unless there was an accident on the road.
