The scallop flames have survived as an adage long after the more realistic flame jobs are gone. No need for pin stripe spider webs or flowing meshes or highlights to replace the chrome trim.
Love the colors of the whole shot. The golden light from the sun, the blues of the sidewalk, the peach-beige of that house, those stark red and white tires, the red car in the background...and then there's the VW! Love the painting on it, and your shot has your usual ease with car capture: the angle, composition, relation to the lines behind it, etc. And you got light on it too, alleviating the heavy gray or gray-blue of its chrome. A jewel-shot of an old classic. (An old ad campaign said, of the VW: "The VW Bug stays ugly longer". It helped make the VW a very popular car.) A really pleasurable shot, Harry.
HEHE! Love the title to this shot :-) We dont see many of those anymore. I never liked these bubbles, but I SO miss my little Sizuki Wagon R. I never missed a car before, but with that I did and I still do. SIGH! They dont sell them in Denmark anymore. SIGH...
