Captured way back on 3/8/08, about a 1.5 miles from home.
Maybe I shouldn't have greeted them in such a loud manner.

No pigeons here. The mourning doves are the big birds in groups.
We have flocks all around of them here. Overpopulation. Cool capture.
I like sossy's reference to "The Birds". Yes, pigeons will take off with the slightest provocation. They look like they just took off, here, you caught that feeling perfectly. And I like how most of the visual background is on the right---poles, trees, lines---while the birds flare out into empty space in much of the rest of the shot. Fine composition. A fine spread of birds, and I like that this is mostly sky. The lamp post seems like an intruder, poking in to see what the hell just happened here...
