The Golden Gate Bridge is a suspension bridge spanning the Golden Gate strait, the one-mile-wide (1.6 km), three-mile-long (4.8 km) channel between San Francisco Bay and the Pacific Ocean. The structure links the American city of San Francisco, California – the northern tip of the San Francisco Peninsula – to Marin County, carrying both U.S. Route 101 and California State Route 1 across the strait. The bridge is one of the most internationally recognized symbols of San Francisco, California, and the United States. It has been declared one of the Wonders of the Modern World by the American Society of Civil Engineers.
The Frommer's travel guide describes the Golden Gate Bridge as "possibly the most beautiful, certainly the most photographed, bridge in the world." It opened in 1937 and was, until 1964, the longest suspension bridge main span in the world, at 4,200 feet (1,300 m).

Beautiful pictures Harry. I never seen the bridge from this angle, and never thought about the ends of the bridge; almost as if it were a complete suspension bridge from end to end. It's very interesting to see the bridge from a different perspective. I also like how it appears as thought there is a fog rolling in too; it almost obscures half the bridge.
I know exactly where this is; have been there several times and probably have fotos very similar to yours. I love the perspective; you caught it so well!!

Thanks for posting photos from this angle. One never sees this aspect of the bridge. Most folks ride on the bridge and never think of the long cantilever portion they ride on at the Marin County end. Often even the San Francisco end is neglected, only showing the towers and roadway. Keep up the good work! Happy New Year to you! :-)
Wow, Harry, you really got sweep and space in these. We can tell they're film; and you know? film is truly film. It's warmer, more relaxed, it has a presence all its own. These are beautifully seen, with sweeping vistas and lines; and the drama of your angles is palpable. The upper shot lets that tower stand out triumphantly, with a lone tree on the right as balance---love the contrast. (Perfect inclusion.) And the bridge spans out towards us in front. I also love the misty near-invisible tower in the background, eaten up by fog. In your bottom shot, you've cropped/shot it so that there's almost no sky---just the looming girders below. It's bridge top, then looming bottom. Dramatic shooting, with all those lines juxtaposed upon that bleached, brush-y ground. And the abutment---if that's what it's called---in the background, like the period to a lonnnng sentence. I love these. What treasures are sitting in your attic??? Love the space and sweep of these. And where were you standing? I get chills thinking of where you were when you shot these. I hope you weren't on some ledge, risking life and limb. (I have problems standing on a curb, these days. I need to lie down for an hour afterwards.) Love these shots.
