Description
The Abbey of Sylvanès, founded in 1136, is a Cistercian monument located in Aveyron. It was classified historical monument in 1834 by Prosper Mérimée

I do not know if this roof is in slates (rather fine stones) or "lauzes" (another kind of stones, thicker). But in any case, there are stones!

It is in such great condition! I wonder if much restoration was needed. Great catch!
Indeed, there was need of restorations ... During the French Revolution, parts of the buildings were used as a farm ... The last restoration was done in the 20th century!

Amazing structure and the age is remarkable to me, around here the California Missions that date back the the 1700's. The Abby was already old when they were being built!!! Great capture my friend!!!
