Mark this is very beautiful and reminds me of this red clay or chamotte, I remember from my short time in a pottery. Loved the red color and it is exactly like this. Or it could also be Lava. But I like the thought of red chamotte :-)
Yes, red clay for me too! We had huge bins in the workshop, each full of a different clay softening ready to reclaim. I have to say it never looked as attractive as this.

Hi Mark...I'm back too:) Wonderful abstract. I spent a great deal of time learning advanced map reading during my first couple of years in the Army (early to mid 60s). Here I see a wide variety of landforms, elevation lines, places where rivers once flowed, roads/trails and LOTS of erosion.
Today paper maps have almost completely given way to digital maps. I still like paper best...just bulky to carry around if you are operating over a large area. Picture the German Army/Soviet Armies on the Eastern front.

Well Tara was more specific. I just wanted to know when you flew over Southern Utah. I see mesas and slot canyons in this. A superb effort.
this is cool! I see a landscape, too. it would be a really awesome place to explore, especially when the sun went down leaving deep, long shadows that would play with depth and shape; the hills and ridges look fun.
