Description
Greetings all. I have been away way to long. Life gets in the way of Art. I am nearing my retirement age and retiring in the U.S. is one big jumble of dealing with Gov. and Corporate conglomerates. Much to much paper work and phone calls. Long story short, this one depicts a journey to this point in life. If he seems a bit beaten by it, I assure you he is not. He has taken what life threw at him and has fought many a crusade. He has taken a beating or two on this path but now looks into a gentleness he has never seen before. The hand beneath fist is a warrior's greeting that says "I offer you the hand of Peace over the hand of war." Her arms and hand are welcoming to the old one before her. Bless all of you and be well and at Peace...Dag

I wish you all the best for your retirement- from what my other half tells me its every bit as complicated this side of the atlantic as well. Now you have to fit in all those little jobs you have been deferring for the last twenty to thirty years!
Dag that is truly beautiful. I also love the image. Excellent work and creative. Happy Golden Years! Hugs..My fav
My age is getting close but budget is not near. So still live from paycheck to paycheck and been highly financialy unresponcable. Never served so no income there. Hope things work out, Dag. And what a great job on this piece.nice fx with thee blood. Pov is super on the subjects.
It's a very well done looking scene! (Good Luck)
A solemn render. Well done.
Great work!
Superb character and pose, a very poignant scene, great image, my friend!
Very nice imagery. I have been retired for almost 4 years now, and retirement is almost exactly like the rest of your life. . . "It is what you make it." Mine has been really pretty good so far. Hope you fare as well. Good to have you back in the galleries.
Now he's appeased......Nice POV, pose, and decor, very touching scene !
Fantastic art work again my friend!!!!Professional art work!!!!Perfect atmosphere and scene !!!!!Congratulations!!!!! fav!!
It gets easier. You learn the ins and outs of the retirement game and you can kick back and live by your own time clock instead of someone else's. Unless of course you live on a farm and have to be up a 6 to feed critters. (I love every minute of it....keeps us young).I love your depiction of "what Is"
I hear you brother, Very nice render!
Wonderfully touching image! Now you can kick back and enjoy a little R & R.

Wonderful and moving scene!!! I wish you a happy retirement! Enjoy every moment in good health. You will have time to choose what to do. Freedom! I wish you the best!
Wonderful Work!!!
Wonderfully arranged scene with a powerful character and pose.
Very strong imagery here. Our hero's head is bowed but he is not beaten. He is determined, yet humble, and ready for the next phase. I am not fooled by the cemetery behind him - this looks like a churchyard to me as he is a holy warrior. The gentle, strong hand welcomes him to a new phase, perhaps that of leadership or teaching. There's a lot to meditate on in this image.
You and me both, brother... I'm past the SS retirement age, but I'm ready to move into a slower pace of life. Of course all my retired friends and family say they're busier than when they were working.... :-O
This is a very powerful and moving render - many of us can identify with him, methinks.
Nice work and great symbolism !!!! I've been fully retired since October of 2014 (I worked part-time for a while, after retiring from GE in 2008). Once you're time becomes your own, you will wonder how you ever found the time to keep a job ! ! !
Fantastic scene and composition my friend... Wonderfully done !!!
Lovely imagery to convey your message. I have found the "Golden Years" are a bit tarnished as my body has begun to succumb to my youthful indiscretions.
Best of luck with your retirement plans. Great scene!
