Description
Captured 8/15/16 @ 7:45 am, about a third of a mile from home.
I know you wanted to see more from the Huntington Beach Concours d'Elegance auto show, but I just had to sneak this one in. I was most impressed by the high contrast lighting effects of the building. Incidentally, just one of the few structures in the city that are taller than two stories. For sure, this ain't Chicago.
ZOOM if you are so inclined.

It's very impressive, Harry; but having starting at the other end of your postings I saw your dramatic black and white version first, and I have to say I like the building better that way. I didn't realize there weren't many multistoried buildings around you, I thought there would be a fair number of them. This does have nice clean lines, but in colour it's easier to see its utilitarianistic qualities. Great shot!
Beautiful place and building Harry !!!
I can't believe how far back my lack of comments goes, but here I am at August 16th. I assume this is the same shot as the black and white version---or it's very similar. (You called the black and white version "Variation," so I assume they're the same.) But what a difference. So much more detail is visible here, since it has none of the silhouette features of the variation. It's a striking solo shot, with the building almost 'posing' for you. And because you caught no buildings around it, it looks as if it sits on its own little island. I too (with Denise) am surprised when I see a building near you that's more than 3 or 4 stories high---I know you have them in your area, but many of your local shots show lower structures. You're in an outlying area of the vast city, whereas I'm right in the center of my city. You say this isn't 'Chicago', once more---but if I understand it correctly, LA has a limit on either height or the number of high rises, doesn't it? Because of earthquakes? That's at least what I remember from years ago...In any case, I would think that LA would've built a massive city center---like Chicago---if it could have. In any case, your light is high contrast, the detail is beautiful, the cars are beautifully lit and shaded, and the composition---with clear sky on top---makes the building stand out like it's posing for grandeur. A beautiful shot of an everyday building, bringing out is strength and poetry at the same time.
