Description
This little dragonfly (7-8 cm) is a damselfly, her english name is "emerald damselfly" (Lestes Sponsa)
When I took the photo, I did not see with my eyes the mass of small red spheres on her abdomen; I saw them when I looked at my captures on computer!
That intrigued me, and I searched on web to find out what it is. These are acarid parasites that cling to dragonflies. It seems that they do not prevent the dragonflies to live. They eventually drop into the grass.

interesting capture - we learn something new every day
Awesome info and superior capture, Jean. Best zoomed for the details you mentioned. 5++
I thought the red things might be eggs.Superbly detailed capture,
Fine shot & it's always interesting to discover something hidden in a photo that you only discover when blowing it up to full size on a monitor. I also find it intriguing that it's body forms the letter "C" - someone could design a whole font from the bodies of damselflies contorted into letter shapes...
Belle Photo cher Jean-Claude!
Beautiful catch! Sad about the parasites, but all of us are subject to them...cancer...you name it!
Wonderful capture!

Wow, love this macro shot. So crisp and clear. Nature provided such vastly tiny and interesting amazement to our lives if we will just take time to look. Thanks for posting and a great eye for the interesting.
Very detailed picture Jean-C. Never knew this and learned again once more
