Description
This little dragonfly (7-8 cm) is a damselfly, her english name is "emerald damselfly" (Lestes Sponsa)
When I took the photo, I did not see with my eyes the mass of small red spheres on her abdomen; I saw them when I looked at my captures on computer!
That intrigued me, and I searched on web to find out what it is. These are acarid parasites that cling to dragonflies. It seems that they do not prevent the dragonflies to live. They eventually drop into the grass.

Superb capture and a very interesting discovery - a very delicate looking insect
Well done my friend!!!
I think she has there their fertilized eggs that she is stuck somewhere, so that the offspring is safe ... Terrific photo!

Excellent naturalistic photo!!
An excellent macro photo, Jean! Fantastic capture! Bravo!
wow ça fait quand même beaucoup d'envahisseurs! Je n'ai jamais eu l'occasion d'en observer sur les libellules chez ma grand-mère; et pourtant elles n'hésitaient pas à s'inviter aux repas! Superbe photo!
