Shore Acres State Park
Charleston, Oregon
A tree fell over, and what had been horizontal is now vertical. You are looking at the bottom of the tree's root system, and if you look closely, you can see a bit of the trunk going off to the left and down.
This wonderful natural sculpture isn't fenced off. The fence is to keep you from falling off the cliff that's between me and the fence. We walked all around the tree, and you can see where people have climbed and sat over the years.
Something about the formation of the roots made me think of a fantasy creature engaged in an emotive modern dance. Do you see how the antlered head is looking over its left shoulder and down its back toward the tail? So graceful!

We've been keeping busy the past week! After driving around in the motorhome for five years, we've decided it's time to trade it in on something stationary and start flying instead of driving. We've covered the continental United States west of the Mississippi except North Dakota, Minnesota, and Iowa, and we've been across Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and into Florida, as well. Given that we want to be in Washington during the summer and Texas during the winter, we've gone everywhere in the motorhome that we can comfortably reach. So now we're going to focus on trips to East Coast cities, and hopefully get around to that European trip we've been wanting to do! Part of the decision is timing. We were unwilling to leave Mandy in a kennel for ANY length of time, so while we still had her, we travelled in the motorhome. Now that we're a dog-free household, we're going to change our mode of operation.
On Thursday we started looking, found the perfect travel trailer, and made the deal. Assuming all goes smoothly, we'll have our new Washington home delivered on Tuesday or Wednesday. Once it's a done deal, I'll tell you what we got and show you pictures. :)

I love the title you have given this capture and I can see the antlered head thrown back in this dance. Well spotted and captured. You now seem to have embarked on a new adventure furnishing your new home. You will have to get your maps out and discover new destinations, maybe even New Zealand. Have lots of fun. ☺

Such a wonderful image. What you've captured here is a wood nymph doing her dance to spring. Has it been five years already? Sounds like an exciting new direction for you and Bill. Color me jealous.
Magnificent photo
I should love to sit and draw this creature from many angles. I have always felt that some trees are like people, with feelings and expressions. I used to be thought a mad hippy, but I expect now I'm just a dotty old biddy.

I like the way you've composed this, with the only man-made component (the fence) harmoniously integrated into what I could otherwise imagine as a primeval scene in a very appealing way. Great capture Tara, but I had a fairly hard time to follow all your suggestions of seeing things. You have a great imagination! And Thanks for the update to your latest plans. In your summary of all your travels in the RV you left out the Southwest lol!
