Description
This silver-plated spring-loaded metal money box is probably about 1878, and belonged to my grandmother who was born in 1881.

What a treasure! I once had an old container that belonged to an aunt of mine, It came from the same time frame. Inside was a long spool that hel several colors of thread and a couple of needles over that was house a thimble and it was all encased in a octogonal metal case with similar scrolled leave work as the back of your coin box. Alas, it was lost when I got divorced. This was a pleasant reminder of my own little lost treasure.
