The Snowy Mountains are not particularly high, with Medicine Bow Peak at 12013-fr. (3,662 m) being the highest peak in this range, but the range receives much snow. So forest fires are usually not a problem. At the point where this picture was taken I was at the tree line, and the meadows were still saturated from last seasons snow pack.
