Prayer flags at the Garden of One Thousand Buddhas
Missoula, Montana
It is said that as these flags snap in the breeze and the fabric disintegrates in the sun, rain and wind, the prayers that are printed on the cloth are carried to heaven continuously on our behalf.

Oh, this is much better. From the thumbnail I thought I was looking at laundry! This is a wonderful image, especially with the stupa and the hills in the background. The same prayer concept works with prayer wheels. All throughout the Himalaya region you will see people, mostly elderly, holding the wheels and continuously spinning them.
A beautiful shot of these; I read a lot of Tibetan reincarnation stories in the 1970s, and this took me back immediately.
I thought the same as Mark, in fact I was suffering briefly from teatowel envy.

I love your composition here Tara! The POV placing the small fountain (?) between the two trees and just above the line of ribbons is beautifully done. We saw many small ribbons tied to tree branches near streams and ponds considered sacred by the still practicing pagans in various sections around southern England which served much the same purpose. Lovely image.

A wonderful photo, Tara! I love the bright colors contrasting with the green, and the leading line that just draws you right into the scene.
Red, white, blue, yellow, green; red, white, blue, yellow, green...catching the eye of god; words, thoughts, prayers...catching the ear...a very moving and ancient concept.
